Two families. One mission: healthier lawns, done right.
Our story began with a passion for healthy lawns and a commitment to the safety of our community. We're still the same family out in the truck every week — and still the ones who answer the phone.
Thrive Fertilizing is the next chapter of Kingwood Fertilizing - the same family-owned organic lawn-care team, now serving Kingwood, Oak Forest, and more Houston neighborhoods.
How this got started
Founded in Kingwood, TX as Kingwood Fertilizing, we've always been deeply rooted in the local community — and we understand the unique challenges Houston's climate brings to keeping a lawn healthy. After more than 25 years in the fertilizing industry, Greg, his wife Aimee, and their son Jake came together to build a safer, healthier alternative to conventional lawn care.
We believe organic lawn care is more than just a service; it's a responsibility — to our families, our pets, and our neighbors. When it was time to grow beyond Kingwood, the family turned to Jay, a lifelong friend, to bring the same care to Oak Forest. That's how Kingwood Fertilizing became Thrive Fertilizing: same people, same values, more of Houston.
Meet the people who'll be making your lawn thrive
No call centers, no corporate ownership — just two families who live in the neighborhoods they serve.
The difference is in the soil.
A lot of lawn companies chase a quick green-up with harsh chemicals. We take care of what's underneath the grass — and the grass takes care of itself.
Safe soil, healthy families, and pure care
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to pure, natural, chemical-free care. Our philosophy was heavily inspired by the documentary Kiss the Ground and its message of regeneration — carried by Jason Mraz's I Won't Give Up. We're passionate about restoring soil naturally, bringing life back to the earth, and keeping lawns safe, thriving, and non-toxic for your family and pets.
It changed how we work, not just how we talk. It's why we make our own fertilizer from organic inputs instead of buying plastic-coated prills, why we feed soil biology on a monthly rhythm rather than forcing a quick green-up, and why we're comfortable telling a customer their lawn needs water and patience instead of another product.

Most lawn fertilizer is full of plastic. Ours isn't.
Most "slow-release" synthetic fertilizers are tiny prills wrapped in a polymer — a plastic — shell. That coating is what times the nutrient release, and once it's empty it doesn't disappear. It stays in your soil and breaks down into microplastics, season after season, bag after bag.
We've never used it. Every Thrive visit feeds the soil with organic matter that fully breaks down — leaving nutrients behind, not plastic.
- ✓ Zero polymer-coated prills — ever
- ✓ Organic inputs that break down completely into the soil
- ✓ Cleaner soil for the kids, pets & pollinators who use it
Every pound applied across our lawns over the past 6 years — without a single plastic coating.
That's an estimated 8,000+ lbs of microplastic coating kept out of Houston soil versus a comparable synthetic program.
Estimate based on ~30 lbs/visit and the ~2.5–3% plastic coating typical of synthetic slow-release fertilizer.
